Take Three
Punch Lane, Melbourne, Australia
People create the city with the creation of aesthetic and a better surrounding for life.
This project will fills you through with a distinctive style of render just like paintings, to measure the moods of space and colours to intensify the emotion.
It sits to explore the notion of architectural themes that are re-explored by architects in new ways over time other than designing a renowned international architectural style.
We focused on design particular through generative skills, including scripting and other advanced methods.

In the past, ornaments were design techniques not just as a sculptural adornment, but to define a character of the building also to integrate the surrounding nature.
It conveys me that we cannot abandon ornamentation, but instead must recognise its true function as a vital and necessary means for reaching ever-higher levels of beauty in architecture.
The Capitol Theatre in Melbourne was designed by Chicago architects The Griffins. I’m particularly interested on how the elements were made on the walls and ceiling of the theatre inside.

This technique was then abstracted and further studied by using generative technique. A series of exploration were then used to test the form of the building.
We then look at a particular technique and further explore them. Also, looking at it in a different perspective such as thinking about it as a structural form as a whole and also as a part of a structural element of a building to create a greater impact in design.
These techniques are then finalise and applied as a manifesto to the façade of the building. The façade of the building is designed as a textile that was wrapped over the body of the building.

The smallest sizes of the elements were used to create openings that are made of painted glass. The biggest sizes of the elements were made of red brick, and the other are made of light weight material.
The building was programmed to be multifunctional including residential, food and beverage and a meeting place for a small community.
Section was use to visualise what kind of spaces that were utilised in each floor.
The technique that I learned in this studio brought me back to reflect on how in the past, art ornamentation & architecture were used to be associated together. Nowadays, people seem to forget the importance of the process of ornamentation.
This studio acts as an exemplar on how we can integrate the concept of ornamentation in the past and bring the technique back to the modern life.
